Es ist fix! Embolo spielt für die Schweiz: «Leider kann man nicht für zwei Nationalmannschaften spielen. Nach reiflicher Überlegung bin ich zum Schluss gekommen, dass ich in Zukunft für jenes Land spielen möchte, in dem ich meine Jugend mehrheitlich verbracht habe» «Es ist dies nicht ein Entscheid gegen Kamerun, sondern einer für die Schweiz. Beide Verbände haben sich intensiv um mich bemüht, wofür ich mich bedanken möchte. Ich hoffe, dass man meinen Entschluss respektiert und akzeptiert.»
Embolo hat, nur Tage nachdem er eingebürgert wurde, sein Bekenntnis zur Schweizer Nationalmannschaft abgegeben und damit den Spekulationen ein Ende gesetzt.
