Motherwell FC --- The Steelmen

Bristol City have signed Scotland striker David Clarkson from Motherwell on a three-year contract.

The 23-year-old, who scored 14 goals in the Scottish Premier League last term, has moved in a reported £600,000 deal.

Clarkson also found the net on his international debut in May 2008 against the Czech Republic and has two caps.

Brighton have signed 26-year-old former Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Smith for two years on a free transfer.

Tranmere midfielder Steve Jennings is poised to become Jim Gannon's first signing as Motherwell manager.

The 27-year-old Jennings has been offered a new contract by the League One outfit but is close to agreeing a one-year contract at Fir Park.

Walsall centre-back Anthony Gerrard and Motherwell defender Paul Quinn are set to complete moves to Cardiff City.

Quinn, 23, is expected in Cardiff to discuss terms this week after Scottish Premier side Motherwell accepted a fee believed to be around £700,000.

SCOTLAND'S record in early-season European ties shows no sign of improving on recent depressing results. Motherwell suffered an embarrassing reversal at the hands of Welsh part-timers, and the architect of their downfall was Llanelli's 42-year-old player-manager, Andy Legg.
His long throw led to the corner from which Llanelli defender Stuart Jones scored the winning goal. Everything will depend on next week's return leg in Wales as Motherwell seek to avoid a Europa League exit at the earliest possible juncture.

Nach der 0-1 Heimniederlage gegen Llanelli, konnte man sich in Wales mit 3-0 durchsetzen.

Well warn fans over Albania trip

Motherwell and the Foreign Office have urged fans not to travel to Albania for the club's Europa League qualifier.

The Steelmen's 3-1 aggregate win over Llanelli set up a second qualifier against KS Flamurtari on 16 July.

However, club bosses do not want supporters to go to the Vlore region after consulting the Foreign Office.

"At this stage we are not chartering a flight and ask fans considering making the journey to seriously reconsider," said a statement on the club website.
