Jawohl, gerettet! :)

Binos pay £48,000 income tax bill

Stirling Albion have made a £48,000 payment to HM Revenue and Customs to avert court action that could have shut the club down.

The club had been threatened with closure previously after failing to pay an overdue tax bill.

In May, the club's owner Peter McKenzie made a £41,000 payment to save the club from liquidation.

The Binos are currently top of the Second Division, but manager Alan Moore has been linked with a move to Morton.

Stirling Albion set to sing Bryan Prunty from Ayr United
Nov 18 2009

STIRLING Albion boss Allan Moore was last night set to complete the loan signing of Ayr United striker Bryan Prunty until January ahead of Saturday’s top of the table clash with Cowdenbeath at Forthbank.

The 26-year-old scored 17 times for the Honest Men last season and was named PFA Scotland Division Two Player of the Year as Brian Reid’s team were promoted via the play-offs but the former Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness CT and Airdrie United hitman has failed to find the net in 12 appearances this term........

Scottish Second Division club Stirling Albion are facing the prospect of becoming homeless.

Stirling Council has gone to court to recover what is believed to be about £100,000 in unpaid rent for the lease of Forthbank Stadium.

Albion are believed to be £1.5m in debt and have survived two winding-up orders in recent months.

A plan to sell Albion's naming rights for £50,000 a year was last month rejected by the Scottish FA.

Stirling have been up for sale since June, when owner and chairman Peter McKenzie announced plans to step down.

Sports surgeon Gordon Mackay's takeover bid for Stirling Albion has collapsed because the Second Division club were taken to court in February.

Stirling Council took action after the club failed to pay almost £100,000 in rent and rates arrears, leading Mackay to walk away from the deal.

"My financial team have studied the Stirling Albion accounts, assisted by the club's own accountants," he said.

"And it is frustrating that we are not in a position to move forward."

Professor Mackay, who was at one time the club doctor to Albion and is now regarded as the country's leading sports injury specialist, announced in December he was to start immediately on the "due diligence" required prior to a potential takeover.................

Albion get their man at last

Stirling Albion have signed trialist striker Derek Colquhoun on a permanent deal to end a three year chase for the player by Forthbank boss Allan Moore. Colquhoun has been playing for Falkirk Amateurs and resisted Moore’s advances, however after scoring a hat-trick in a friendly against Rangers early into this season and successful appearances on a trial basis Moore has finally persuaded Colquhoun to sign on.
