Raith Rovers Football Club have this evening confirmed that Mark Campball was involved in a serious car crash outside Kilmarnock today.

Sparky was taken to a local hospital and was visited within a few hours by manager John McGlynn.

At the time of the manager’s visit, the Rovers captain was still going through a series of tests, and although he has suffered significant cuts and chest bruising, the prognosis as of this evening was good and there seems to be no lasting damage at this stage.
Speaking tonight, Raith chairman Dave Somerville said: “ It was with a high degree of shock that we heard of Mark's accident today.
It is an example of the camaraderie that John McGlynn has engendered into this Club that he was with Mark in hospital as soon as he possibly could and we are all relieved that Sparky is showing no signs of lasting damage.
It is often said that there are times when football doesn’t really matter and this is one of those occasions. Mark is not only a good footballer but a good man and I am sure everyone associated with the Club would like to join me in wishing him well for a speedy recovery.
Our thoughts are also with his family who are going through a very traumatic time.
In the meantime we have a very important game tomorrow evening and I hope everyone will remember the great spirit that Mark Campbell shows on the pitch and I'm sure we can all help him by giving the Rovers extra special support in the game up at Aberdeen.

We should be in no doubt that from his hospital bed Mark Campbell will be kicking every ball for the Rovers tomorrow!.”

Öhm... ja :p

Raith Rovers are appealing for fans to bring along garden forks and wellies to help drain the waterlogged pitch at Stark's Park. (Various)
